In the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures, research and teaching converge to provide a high-quality undergraduate and graduate experience at the University of North Texas. Drawing on their academic research, experiences abroad, and involvement in fields beyond academia, our dedicated faculty equip graduates with versatile skills for a wide variety of careers. Thus, we prepare globally engaged citizens who can think critically and communicate effectively in various linguistic and cultural contexts.
Enhancing the quality of undergraduate and graduate programs in the Department of World Languages, Literatures, & Cultures will eventually lead to an even more accomplished student body in the College of Arts & Sciences and the University. The Department of World Languages, Literatures, & Cultures will contribute to the advancement of the College's and the University's international outreach and reputation by maintaining opportunitites for international exchange and study abroad programs. The Department of World Languages, Literatures, & Cultures will promote and foster an academic culture in which student learning and scholarly and artistic achievement by faculty are viewed as mutually enabling activities that are recognized as an important contribution to the vision of the College of Arts & Sciences and the University.
